This is an online professional development course for high school teachers that covers an important topic in the new syllabus: Discrete Probability Distributions for Year 11 Advanced Mathematics Topic MA-S3.

It is the second part in our suite of New Syllabus Professional Development courses, focused on addressing the new parts of the new stage 6 mathematics syllabi.

This course is accredited for three hours of NESA (formerly BOSTES) professional development.

Discrete Probability Distributions is presented by award winning teacher A/Prof Norman Wildberger from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW Sydney.

The course will be covering topics from discrete random variables and their uses in modelling random processes involving chance, including an appreciation of probability distributions and associated statistical analysis methods, as well as their use in modelling binomial events through the Binomial Distribution.

Teachers will have an opportunity to engage with interesting examples, be given useful data sets that they can use in their classroom, and will be sharing ideas and information to make this important topic more accessible to their students.

The cost for this course is $50.
